STILL PHOTOGRAPHER

I’m Dylan Wood, a photographer who loves capturing stills with my 35mm film camera. Sometimes, I even dare to use my 6x7 Medium format. And when I need to, I don’t hesitate to reach for my digital camera. I choose to shoot stills on film when I have digital camera (I do use it) There’s a lot to it. For those of us who love film photography, it’s a simple yet rewarding experience. Film has its own unique challenges. It can be unpredictable, and it can even humble you. You’re limited in what you can capture, and there’s no forgiveness if you underexpose. No auto-focus, limited ISO, and you can’t see your photo for a few days. Except it’s beautiful looking and it is a lot more fun to shoot and not as hard and scary and you think! It does seem like photographer’s worst nightmare, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. You’ve challenged yourself, and you’ve captured a precious moment that you and your clients will never forget. Nailing the exposure and focus with a vintage film camera, without batteries, on a magical piece of film? That’s what truly makes it special.
